I am Adrian De Guinto, one of the Software Engineers at Markem-Imaje Philippine Corporation. I have a bachelor’s degree in information technology and joined the company in mid 2023. During the weeks of training, I have acquired several dover certifications and successfully completed assessments. After that training, I already supported our key customer in Vietnam to upgrade their existing CoLOS version 5.4 to 6.4 on their Production server and Development server. Scope includes doing System Integration Test (SIT), User Acceptance Test (UAT) and Go Live. I am really happy to apply the knowledge that I gained from the instructor-led training up and self learning during the training phase.

We configure, test and deploy the CoLOS solution, to help manufacturers add identification to their products like a barcode or series of numbers. With this solution, we enable customers to be regulatory compliant, connect their products so they can track and trace, detect counterfeit or engage with consumers. Markem-Imaje is a global company with product development and customers around the world; One day, I might be working with customers in Berlin, Germany, and, the next, with colleagues in Keene, US. I really enjoy being part of the global team, being part of an enthusiastic team that is at the forefront of innovation in this industry, and, at same time, helping both colleagues and clients with their day-to-day challenges on different sites.

As you can imagine, because of my studies, I am especially interested in the design of our software solutions, Packaging Intelligence powered by CoLOS®, that play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of the coding process. To be honest, I didn’t think that the technology behind printing at the manufacturer was so advanced. For example, we have advanced algorithms and machine learning techniques in our solutions to enable real-time monitoring and control of the coding systems. This allows the production line to detect and rectify any coding issues at the same moment it is being coded, ensuring that only products with readable codes are leaving the facility. Apart from safety, this also helps to minimize possible waste when detected, as only “bad products” are being recalled or scrapped and not the entire batch.
