Markem-Imaje UK proudly donates to the Macmillan Cancer Centre
Charitable donations remain at the forefront of Markem-Imaje’s ESG (environmental, social and governance) agenda. Some of the causes we support include programs that promote education, literacy, advancement in science, technology, engineering, math, and community service. This latter topic is of high importance to us.
Markem-Imaje UK (the Thermal-Transfer Product Division) chooses a cause every year to donate to. In 2022, the wellness team suggested running the Nottingham Robin Hood Half Marathon to fundraise money for a charity, and the product division decided to collaborate with the Derby and Burton Hospital charity, which, in turn, will spend the raised money on the Macmillan Cancer Support Centre. On September 25th, a group of 15 people from MI proudly joined the marathon.
Macmillan Cancer Centre. An organization that helps people living with cancer
The Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre provides a confidential drop-in service for anyone who requires information and support about cancer and is living with or beyond this disease. They also help relatives and healthcare professionals.
Mandy-Jane Gray, Lead Nurse at the Derby Hospital, states that they aim to “help cancer patients and their significant others find the best way forward from the moment of potential diagnosis so that they can live life as fully as possible. Cancer turns lives upside down for our patients and those that are important to them, so we support and advise them”.
The center provides them with information, and the opportunity to discuss treatments, side effects, and other cancer-related issues. They also offer assistance over the phone or via email/video call for those who are not able to access the service in person. Moreover, they can refer the patients to a local or national support group. The organization facilitates patients to take things at their own pace and helps them find the resources and the strength needed to face cancer.
Employees and families of the Thermal-Transfer product division, and Markem-Imaje as a company, donated to the Derby Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre. We are proud to share that the Dover Foundation, the philanthropic arm of our parent company, Dover Corporation, also matched the donation.
The Markem-Imaje donation to the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre will enable the team to provide even better care and support to people living with cancer.
On May 9th, an event took place on their premises, where Markem-Imaje employees had the chance to learn more about the great job that the Macmillan team does. It was an excellent opportunity to confirm how our collaboration can make a difference.
