Markem-Imaje, the global provider of end-to-end supply chain solutions and industrial marking and coding systems, has announced the launch of two new accessories for its 60-watt CO₂ laser printer, the SmartLase® C600, offering additional functionality and a broader range of applications.

The two new accessories, the SmartLase® C600 X-WIDE multi-lane solution for the 60W laser printer, as well as a new laser Beam Orientation Unit (BOU), will offer customers a powerful suite of tools to meet customer applications.

The new SmartLase® C600 X-WIDE printhead offers five times more printing area, meaning that customers will now need to use fewer lasers for their multi-lane packaging lines. One 60-watt laser with the X-WIDE printhead can print an up to an 820mm wide matrix film.

The new C600 BOU solution is designed to integrate easily into the most challenging spaces to offer an effective solution for coding on PET bottles, glass, labels, flexible films, inked paper/carton, and coated metals like those found in the beverage industry.

The SmartLase® C600 has been engineered to perform to the highest standards on the most demanding packaging lines—even with the increasing complexity of 1D and 2D codes. Designed with speed and reliability at its heart, the SmartLase® C600 delivers high-quality, chemical-free, permanent coding and indelible marking to protect against counterfeiting.

When the C600 is combined with Markem-Imaje's Packaging Intelligence software suite, CoLOS®, product track-and-trace can be implemented, as well as compliance with new regulatory requirements and standards such as Food Safety Modernization Act, Digital Product Passport and GS1 Digital Link with serialized QR codes.

Virtually maintenance-free, the SmartLase® C600 reduces operational expenses (OPEX) through fewer line stoppages, no added costs for consumables or external cooling allowing for chemical-free production which helps businesses meet sustainability compliance goals.
